The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff for architectural and engineering services for the proposed Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE). The planned highway will provide a dual five-lane strategic link between the existing Kallang/Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE)/East Coast Expressway (ECE) in the east of the island state and Ayer Rajah Expressway (ARE) in the west. Total length of the proposed construction is 5 km. The MCE will be constructed mainly underground. The route comprises a 3.5 km underground tunnel and a 1.5 km above ground/depressed road structure. It will create direct connections to the downtown area at Marina Bay and the Marina South area from the south of the state.
