Open call for tenders, deadline 25th May, 2007 for construction of a pilot tunnel (lot 1), as part of the rerouting of road SS 508 in Sarentino valley. The project entails the construction of two tunnels. The first is 1,520 m long, whereof 1,475 m in bored tunnel and the remainder in cut and cover at the portals. The second tunnel is nearly 2 km long and includes two 25 m-long false tunnels at the entrances. The pilot tunnel will be TBM-built, at an estimated cost of EUR10 million. Work to commence in summer 2007. The TBM will be used in the Bolzano-Sarentino direction to drive a first section, then will cross the Goldegg cave prior to boring a second section until the uphill junction with SS 508.
