CONSTRUCTION OF SEWAGE TUNNELS INVITATION TO APPLY FOR PREQUALIFICATION OF TENDER 2.05. 2008 The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will invite applications on 2 May 2008 for prequalification of tenderers for two construction contracts, Contract no. DC/2007/23 and Contract no. DC/2007/24, which form part of the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme Stage 2A Project. 28.04. 2008  Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates sees need for installing stainless steel strapping and adding 900 ceiling anchors to secure the ceilings at either end of the Ted Williams tunnel. The recommendation came as part of a safety review ordered in the wake of a July 2006 fatal ceiling collapse, and is designed to act as a backup to bolts already in place. 18-19/08.
Traficon Equips Black Sea Coast Tunnels in Turkey with Automatic Incident Detection
28.04. 2008 The Turkish motorway management authority, KGM, is currently building a new 350 km-long four-lane road from Espiye to Sarp Batumi along the coast of the Black Sea. Over 20 tunnels with a total length of 28 kilometres will be equipped with Traficon’s video detection system. 22.04. 2008 The organizers of the recent ISTSS conference in Munich were very pleased by the higher than expected attendance of 263 delegates and the fact that over 30 countries were represented. The conference has certainly become an internationally recognized event. Italy Tuscay,Umbria and Marche - it/130 Expressway 28.04. 2008 ANAS, the Italian national road administration, approved on 23rd April, 2008 the EUR1.66 million final design of the Mercatello sul Metauro-San Stefano di Gaifa section on the E78 expressway in Marche region. The 33 km section, whereof 12.5 km of tunnel and 5.5 km of viaduct, will complete the E78 in Marche. The section crosses the Metauro river valley in Sant’ Angelo in Vado, Urbania and Fermignano municipalities. The project will be divided into six lots. Valencian Community - es/81 Light Rail 9.06. 2008 Open invitation to tender, deadline 9th June, 2008 for detailed design of the first phase of the extension of tram line 1 in Alicante to El Altet airport. Marche - it/126 Road 23.04. 2008 ANAS, the Italian national road administration, has declared in the public interest on 23rd April, 2008 a proposal submitted by a joint venture formed by Impregilo (leader, with a 47% share), Astaldi (24%), Pizzarotti (18%) and Itinera (11%) as concessionaire of the project finance initiative for the construction and management of the road link between the Port of Ancona and motorway A14 and the Adriatica national road SS 16.
