Arup director Mike Glover became in 2007 the seventh winner of the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering’s Sir Frank Whittle Medal in recognition of his achievement in the planning, design and construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL). Mike Glover is one of the most versatile and experienced engineers at Arup, where he joined as a graduate in 1969. Having trained as a civil and structural engineer with early emphasis on research and development and analysis, he expanded his skills into the design leadership of multi-disciplinary projects ranging from tall buildings, energy projects and large transportation and infrastructure projects around the world. He has an enviable track record of award-winning projects and is a Fellow of Arup, of IStructE and of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

He has focused the last ten years of his work on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL), one of the biggest UK infrastructure projects of the last century.
