Citilog to Supply AID System to Boston Tunnels 15.05.2008

Citilog, a world leading provider of intelligent real time video monitoring and surveillance solutions for traffic, transportation, security and safety management, announced on 6th May, 2008 that its VisioPaD™ product will be deployed by the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority (MTA) for management of traffic incident detections across key tunnels in the Boston area. With more than 200 pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras integrated with VisioPad within the Ted Williams tunnel, I-90 connector and I-93 tunnels, Citilog’s solution will enable tunnel traffic incidents to be detected within one minute improving response and clearance times. The results will provide a significant positive impact in responsiveness to facilitate safety, security and traffic flow.

VisioPaD will be fully integrated with existing PTZ cameras and the integrated project control system

central computer system running Transdyn’s DYNAC software to provide seamless incident detection and response management for the facility. Two-hundred and seventy-two tunnel cameras will be intelligently and automatically monitored for traffic incidents by Citilog’s VisioPaD. The implementation of Citilog will improve MTA’s ability to meet federal and state requirements for managing traffic incidents and ability to respond to emergency situations. Citilog’s solution also lowers the MTA’s maintenance cost by eliminating the need to maintain 1,800 inductive loops in the Big Dig system.

In addition, the solution is easily deployed, enabling the MTA to be operational very quickly. As a result, the 272 cameras will create a virtual set of eyes which will monitor the entire infrastructure. This has removed the need to develop and maintain loop-based incident detection software previously required.

VisioPaD provides several integration and usage advantages: minimal configuration required, automatic and dynamic calibration, adaptation to PTZ and fixed cameras, no preset position, field proven technology compatible with IP and analog closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, integrated pre and post incident video recording, and digital video recording.

In addition, VisioPaD automatically adjusts to camera shifts, changes in the video feed, to all-weather

conditions and all-traffic conditions to maximize video clarity at all times of the day or night. Citilog’s

solutions enable state, county and city resource managers to limit the losses from road traffic incidents, crimes or unauthorized access, by providing real time automated incident detection enabling

the possibility to deploy corrective measures before the loss escalates.

The video-based detection systems can be tailored to instantly identify and alert management about

various incidents. Citilog’s software-based systems use existing video signals from any CCTV, fixed,

PTZ, analog, IP and any other camera, thus requiring no new hardware or infrastructure additions. Click  here . Visit www.citilog.com and www.citilog.fr 20/08.
