| Sodi Scientifica Installed Speed Control in Kallang/Paya Lebar Tunnel in Singapore |
15.05.2008 |
Sodi Scientifica in cooperation with Tyco Fire & Security Asia, completed the installation of traffic monitoring equipment inside the Kallang/Paya Lebar tunnel on the Kallang/Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) in Singapore. Tyco Building Services of Singapore are designing, installing and commissioning an Integrated Traffic and Plant Management System (ITPMS).
Sodi Scientifica’s Autovelox 105 SE digital cameras monitor traffic speeds in the tunnel, automatically collect data and forward it to a central station for processing. Transmission inside the tunnel is made through fiber optics cables, ensuring real-time control. Units are remotely controlled to minimise human intervention on site. Units operate 24 hours a day and collect data including speed, length of vehicle, lane occupancy as well as time and date. Sodi Scientifica and Tyco installed six units inside the KPE tunnel. Visit www.tycobuilding.com
Autovelox 105 SE is a digital video laser speed control system. Digital images are recorded and retrieved via central computer. Digital information management allows a substantial increase in efficiency through the complete automation of the violation process. Image and violation data can be easily processed at once, thus avoiding any operation required by the traditional film. Visit www.sodi.com for more on the system.
The 12 km KPE will stretch from the East Coast Parkway in the south to the Tampines Expressway in the north east. The expressway includes about 9 km of tunnels, which will be the longest underground highway in South East Asia. It will have three lanes in each direction and eight interchanges. Physical works on the KPE started in 2001 and is scheduled for completion later this year. A first, 3 km section opened in October 2007. Sodi’s Autovelox systems will be installed in all the 9 km of tunnel. Click here . Visit www.kpeunderground.sg 20/08. |
