Colombia to host technical seminar on tunnels The Colombian Government has approved the financing of more than 70 km of new tunnels, closing gaps in the national highway network and facilitating access to remote regions of the country. Together with this initiative, the technological upgrading of existing government and concession operated tunnels is planned.

ITS Colombia is organizing a one-day technical seminar on Intelligent Transport Systems for Tunnel Safety on 18.06.2009 at the Sheraton Hotel in Bogotá. The goal is to create a meeting place for technology providers with regional and national government authorities, concession operators and engineering companies showing the technology deployment in all stages of planning, implementation and operation. Among the confirmed private sector participants are Herrenknecht, Indra, Securiton, SICE and Openroads Consulting. The National Office for Concessions, INCO, who recently joined ITS Colombia as a member, will be giving the official update on government projects and policies during the event.
